Balayage in Las Vegas

Balayage in Las Vegas is one of Paul Juma’s signature services. Color is painted by hand for a soft, natural graduation from root to ends, with no harsh regrowth line. Balayage and ombré at Vegas Hair Color run $150 to $180+, with Olaplex bond protection in every service at no extra charge.

Photos first, please: for any color service we ask for photos before booking, so we can give you a thorough consultation. Front and back photos work best, showing your hair in its natural texture (not brushed straight or curled with hot tools), plus a photo of the look you want if you have one. Upload them on our Contact page or simply text them to (702) 449-8429.

What Balayage Is

Balayage comes from the French word for “sweeping.” Instead of packing lightener into foils from the root, the colorist sweeps it by hand onto the surface of each section, heavier where the sun would naturally lighten your hair and softer near the root. The result is sun-kissed dimension that looks lived-in rather than striped.

Because the lighter pieces melt into your natural color instead of starting in a hard line, balayage grows out gracefully. That makes it a favorite for clients who want color that still looks intentional weeks after the appointment.

How We Do Balayage at Vegas Hair Color

  1. Consultation. We look at your photos and your hair’s condition, agree on the finished look, and go over the process and the price before we begin.
  2. Protect. If Las Vegas hard water has left mineral residue in your hair, we remove it first, so the lightener lifts evenly. Olaplex Bond Multiplier (No.1) goes into every lightener.
  3. Paint. Lightener is hand-painted section by section, using ammonia-free lighteners whenever possible.
  4. Tone. L’Oréal Professionnel Dia demi-permanent color adds gloss and sets the exact shade, from cool beige to warm honey.
  5. Finish. Bond Perfector (No.2) when needed, then a cut and style if you’re having one.

Blending Extensions Into Balayage

Balayage looks its best with length and movement to show it off. If your hair is fine or short, Paul can blend extensions into your balayage, using European Remy hair toned to match your color, even with two tones in a single strand, so the lighter pieces flow right through the new length.

Keeping Balayage Bright in Las Vegas

Las Vegas water is some of the hardest in the country, and its minerals are the main reason lightened hair here turns brassy and brunette tones go muddy. A water softener and a filtered shower head at home make a real difference. Our Las Vegas hard water guide explains why it happens and how we fix it, and our pool chlorine tips help it survive summer.

What Balayage Clients Say

Client review

Paul was absolutely amazing! I flew in from out of state and will definitely be flying back to see Paul again. He was able to correct a poor cut from another hair stylist without cutting off length. The color he added to my hair, blonde balayage, turned out stunning. My hair feels healthy and looks beautiful. The experience itself was relaxing as well as fun! Paul is easy to get along with and we talked and laughed the entire time I was there. I give him a 10 out of 10 and would recommend him to anyone!

I tried to go red and Paul corrected my hair twice to get it dark with blonde highlights. He had to correct it twice to get it the right color and to get it right. He did a blonde balayage. He also put in 22" ombre extensions and they blended so well at the end. Both the balayage technique and the extensions look flawless. I've been using hand tied wefts the past two years and I switched over to micro beads with Paul and am glad I switched over. I have perfect color, length and blends. Thanks, Paul!

Balayage FAQ

How much does balayage cost in Las Vegas at Vegas Hair Color?

Balayage and ombré run $150 to $180+, depending on your hair’s length, thickness and starting color. Olaplex is included at no extra charge. We confirm the price at your consultation, before any color is mixed.

What is the difference between balayage and ombré?

Balayage is painted by hand onto individual sections, so the lighter pieces fall where the sun would naturally catch them. Ombré is a gradient across the whole head: deeper at the root, lighter toward the ends. Both grow out softly, and many clients combine the two.

Does balayage damage your hair?

Any lightener changes the hair, which is why we take extra steps at no extra charge. We use ammonia-free lighteners whenever possible, add Olaplex Bond Multiplier (No.1) to every lightener, and follow with Bond Perfector (No.2) when needed. If your hair isn’t ready for the full look in one visit, we’ll tell you, and build it safely over more than one.

Why does my balayage turn brassy in Las Vegas?

Mostly the water. Las Vegas tap water is very hard, and its minerals cling to lightened hair, dulling the toner so warm undertones show through. Read why blonde turns brassy in Vegas for what we do in the salon and what helps at home.

Can balayage be combined with hair extensions?

Yes. Paul is also an extensions artist, so extensions can be toned to match your balayage and blended in to add length and fullness. Ask about it at your consultation.
